AMPLIFYING social movements

to democratize the economy

What is Systemic Action?

Systemic Action is a new non-profit political action organization founded by Anuna de Wever & Lena Hartog. We amplify campaigns and policy proposals that return economic power to the people. We do this by mobilizing a broad audience for structural economic change by telling new economic narratives and exposing the inequalities of the current system.

Today’s economy only works for a small minority. Decades of rapid economic growth have not only caused ecological breakdown but also failed to deliver its promises of wealth and welfare for everyone. The climate crisis demands us, as the IPCC states, to reorganize every aspect of our economy.

Social movements are powerful agents for change that could spur such a large scale transformation. Current progressive movements have succeeded in taking the stage but have not yet succeeded to democratize the economy. A systemic approach is missing, often due to the lack of economic awareness and connection between today’s ecological and societal challenges.

Working together with leading NGO’s and movements we create change through:

  • Storytelling: Challenging business as usual’s myths & developing and mainstreaming new economic narratives to raise systemic awareness

  • Campaign strategy: Exploring the root causes and paradigms below society’s challenges and looking for points of intervention

  • Movement building: Organizing people power around democratic ownership and building bridges between the workers’ unions, environmental and social justice movements and democratic movements.

We are home-based in Amsterdam and Brussels and have an international scope of working.
